Intermediate Ceramics: Paperclay
Four week course starting Friday 13 June 2025 10.30am - 1.30pm
Course details
Paperclay allows you to break all the rules! You can connect dry clay to wet clay and your constructions, when glaze fired, are lighter and stronger due to the paper fibres. Paperclay gives us the opportunity to work in a much freer and creative way than we can with traditional clay bodies. It gives us the freedom to work beyond the leatherhard state and means it is no longer necessary to maintain moisture levels in ongoing work not be concerned about cracking and uneven drying. In the first three sessions we will be working with commercially available paperclay to explore how paperclay lets us push the boundaries of traditional clay work. The last session will focus on the making of small batch paperclay for your personal use: discussing the proportions of clay to paper pulp and how this affects its properties. 0% payment plans available - just select 'pay in person' at the checkout and one of our team will contact you to work out a plan which works for you.
