Wednesday 18th June 2025 5 -7:30pm

Camborne Contemporary Crafts Hub

Course details

Join us for a free, hands-on ceramic workshop exploring the theme of water—past and present, with multidisciplinary artist Alice Mahoney. Together, we’ll create water vessels and water-inspired sculptures while discussing the role of water both historically and today. This 2.5-hour adult workshop includes a short break and invites you to make your own pieces—such as bowls, cups, jugs, or small sculptural forms inspired by fountains, springs, water spirits, or ponds. 🌀 Date & Time: Wednesday 18th June 2025, 5pm -7:30pm 📍 CREATE CIC, Camborne 🕒 2.5 hours (with a break) 💸 Free to attend (all materials provided) 🎟 Booking essential – limited spaces! About the Project: Water Bodies This workshop is part of Water Bodies, a wider creative project led by multidisciplinary artist Alice Mahoney. Using sculpture, painting, film, and sound, Alice explores how people, objects, and places are interconnected. For this project Alice is interested in defining the role of water both historically and in a contemporary context, in particular looking at the association of women and water historically as well as lost sites of water due to industry in and around Camborne and reconnecting communities to these sites. Through conversations and workshops with local community groups she’ll research the ancient stories and myths which surround these sites in the area, discussing how we might reconnect with these sites (both lost and existing) within the landscape today. Exhibitions & Documentation Work created in the workshop will be part of an exhibition at Kresen Kernow in February 2026, with documentation also shown at The Exchange Gallery, Penzance in 2026. Some workshops will be documented by a photographer. If any participants are not comfortable being photographed, please let us know before. Audio recordings of conversations may also be made to contribute to a podcast sharing the stories more widely—please inform us if you’d prefer not to be recorded.
