Environment and Sustainability

At Create CIC we are passionate about safeguarding the planet for future generations, however we are also aware of how energy intensive some of the processes we use are. We are working hard to mitigate this and make the Camborne Contemporary Crafts Hub as environmentally sustainable as possible.

We are in the first stage of converting our beautiful Grade 2* listed building into a contemporary crafts hub. Our proposals involve minimal intervention in the fabric of the building, working with heritage consultants and Historic England to explore which green energy solutions are acceptable to integrate into this building, reusing and repairing wherever possible, and sourcing local materials and contractors. We are also starting to work with Exeter University to explore ways of capturing the heat produced by our kilns to reuse it to heat the building.

In the mean time we are; working from home and minimising travel, recycling, reusing and repurposing materials, furniture and equipment, using recycled paper towels and environmentally friendly cleaning products, and sourcing local products and services wherever we can.

Safeguarding

Create CIC believes everyone has the right to live free from abuse or neglect. We are committed to creating and maintaining a safe and positive environment and an open, listening culture where people feel able to share concerns. We acknowledge that safeguarding is everybody’s responsibility and are committed to prevent abuse and neglect through safeguarding the welfare of all adults and children involved.

Create CIC recognises that health, well-being, ability, disability and need for care and support can affect a person’s resilience. We recognise that some people experience barriers, for example, to communication in raising concerns or seeking help and that these factors can vary at different points in people’s lives.

We recognise that there is a legal framework within which we need to work to safeguard adults and children who have needs for care and support and for protecting those who are unable to take action to protect themselves and will act in accordance with the relevant safeguarding legislation and with local statutory safeguarding procedures.

Our full safeguarding policy will be published here shortly.
