Have a Creative Christmas at the Camborne Contemporary Craft Hub

Make your own personalised decorations and gifts!

Christmas classes, New Year courses and a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from all of us here at Create CIC and the Camborne Contemporary Crafts Hub, Angela, Jane and Helen!

Introducing our new tutors!

In case you missed last month's newsletter, we have new tutors running Christmas jewellery classes and then six week jewellery courses from January. Sally Caslake discovered silver clay around five years ago and loves the way you can create beautiful pieces with minimum tools.

Having trained as a marine engineer, Barnabas Taylor naturally decided a career in jewellery was the best way forwards! Being self taught helps him to understand beginners and the problems faced by those who are inexperienced in craft work. No matter what level you are at, Barnabas will enable you to create something you are proud of. And Deborah Rice is a jeweller specialising in silver wire wrapping. She creates stunning unique intricate pieces of wearable art.

Still some places left on our Christmas classes!

Make your own Christmas decorations in fused glass or try jewellery making with our NEW silver clay and silver ring making classes.

Tomorrow evening, Tuesday 7th December, Sally Caslake will be running a silver clay jewellery making class. Make a pendant or pair of dangly earrings that you will texture, hand fire, and polish to perfection.

At 10am on Wednesday 8th December Jane will be running a fused glass decorations class and then Helen will be running it again at 2pm and 6pm on Monday 13th December.

And over two afternoons on 14th and 15th December Barnabas Taylor will be running a silver ring making class where you can learn to make your own fused glass cabochon and a unique silver ring to set it in.

All tools and materials are included and you get to take home your unique works of art at the end or, in the case of porcelain and glass, you can collect before Christmas, once your pieces have been fired. Book at createcic.co.uk or email angela@createcic.co.uk for a direct booking link.

Christmas drop-in!

On Wednesday 15th December it's Christmas open house at the Camborne Contemporary Crafts Hub between 11am and 12noon, and 6pm and 7pm. Pop by for a mince pie, gingerbread and glass of something festive.

And as a special Christmas treat, if you book for one of our 2022 courses or classes when you come you'll get to choose your own FREE porcelain Christmas decoration from our beautiful window display designed by our very own Jane Smith!

New six week courses starting in January 2022!

Whether you're a beginner, have done some courses or have lots of experience we have a fused glass course for you! On Monday daytimes Helen will be running the beginner's course again which has been so popular over the past term, and also a returner's course allowing you to build on the skills developed on the beginner's course. Then on Monday evenings the intermediate course will explore slumping and other three dimensional glass forming.

Sally Caslake will be running a NEW silver clay jewellery making course. Over the course of six week make pendants, dangly earrings and more that you will texture, hand fire, and polish to perfection. Learn how to work with precious metal clay, using techniques including rolling, drying, drilling and finishing, as well as stone setting to produce stunning and unique items.

Jane will be running handbuilding ceramics courses for both beginners and intermediate. In the beginners course you will cover the basics of pinch, slab and coil construction, and work with various methods of decoration including texture, oxides, sgrafitto, marbling and glazing. And in the intermediate class you can learn the exciting method of saggar firing, developing the techniques of handbuilding learnt in the beginners class to produce unique and specialised pieces.

Six week courses start on Monday 10 January and then again on Monday 28 February. More courses and classes to be added so keep an eye on our website and social media for details.

All tools and materials are included and you get to take home your unique pieces. Book at createcic.co.uk or email angela@createcic.co.uk for a direct booking link.
